Microsoft Turns Text Predictions Off by Default in Word and Outlook
Microsoft is changing the default experience for text predictions in Word and Outlook. The feature remains available, but it is now switched off by default in supported Word and Outlook apps, giving users more control over whether predictive suggestions appear while they type.
What is changing?
Text Predictions will no longer be enabled by default in Word for Windows, Word for the web, Word for Android, Word for iOS, classic Outlook for Windows, and Outlook for Mac. Users can enable the feature again at any time through the application settings.
Why it matters
Predictive text can help some people write faster by suggesting words and phrases. However, others find the suggestions distracting. Microsoft’s update makes the experience more user-controlled while preserving the option for people who want to use it.
How to enable it
In Word or Outlook, open Settings, find Text Predictions, and use the available checkbox or toggle to turn the feature on.
