(Updated) Microsoft Teams VDI: Windows Server versions and support timelines
Microsoft announcement
Updated June 24, 2026: We have updated this post as a reminder. Thank you for your patience.
Support for Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Apps is defined by the Modern Lifecycle Policy, which requires customers maintain an up-to-date configuration to stay supported.
As communicated in MC994280 / Microsoft Teams VDI: Windows Server versions and support timelines (published January 2025), the New Microsoft Teams end-of-support dates for Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022 are October 2025 and October 2026, respectively.
For further information, review Office and Windows configuration support matrix.
All Windows Server customers can now start using Windows Server 2025, which is the most current Windows Server OS for Microsoft Teams in VDI.
[When this will happen:]
End-of-support dates for Windows Server 2019: October 2025
End-of-support dates for Windows Server 2022: October 2026
[How this will affect your organization:]
You are receiving this message because you have deployed Microsoft Teams in a VDI environment with Windows Server 2019 (10.0.17763).
[What you can do to prepare:]
If you are a customer using Windows Server 2019, please plan to upgrade to a newer Windows Server version. We recommend Windows Server 2025 (or 2022, if 2025 is not possible).
