Action Required – Your Microsoft SharePoint Storage Quota Exceeded
Microsoft announcement
We are reaching out to inform you that your organization has exceeded its allocated SharePoint Online storage quota.
What happens next?
You have to take action and bring your storage usage within quota limits. You can:
- Purchase additional storage through either Office 365 Additional File Storage capacity packs.
- In early 2026 you will be able to purchase and manage flexible capacity through the Microsoft 365 Additional Storage PAYGO (pay-as-you-go) offering.
- Delete or archive data to reduce your storage footprint.
Important Deadlines:
- In early 2026, if your tenant continues to operate above your storage limits, you are at risk of your environment being put into ‘read-only’ mode. This means users may be unable to add or modify content until storage usage is reduced or additional capacity is purchased.
- 30 days (or your specified period) after read-only mode begins: If your tenant remains over quota, your content may become inaccessible.
What you should do:
Review your current storage usage and determine the best path forward for your organization.
