Update Remote Help apps deployed from Enterprise App Management to the latest version

Starting October 28, 2026, or soon after, Remote Help for Windows apps deployed from the Enterprise App Management catalog will require version 5.2.1040.0 or later. This helps ensure you receive the latest updates and future improvements for the Remote Help app. If you deploy Remote Help from the Enterprise App Management catalog, update your Remote Help app to version 5.2.1040.0 or later.

[How this will affect your organization:]

Our telemetry indicates that your organization has deployed Remote Help for Windows from the Enterprise App Management catalog using a version earlier than 5.2.1040.0. After this change, Intune will stop deploying older versions of Remote Help.

For Remote Help apps prior to version 5.2.1040.0:

• Remote Help that is already installed on devices continues to work.
• The app will not appear in the Company Portal app or website.
• Install status for the older app will show as "Not applicable" in the Intune admin center.
• Admins can still view and edit the app in the Intune admin center, but those changes, including required and uninstall assignments, will not apply to devices.
• The Intune admin center will show a banner on the app saying it uses an older version and that you need to move to an updated version.

[What to do to prepare:]

Update older versions of Remote Help deployed through Enterprise App Management catalog by adding the latest version and assigning it to the same group as your existing app. You can find affected apps in the Intune admin center, Apps > Windows and identify Remote Help apps added from the Enterprise App Management catalog with a version earlier than 5.2.1040.0.
