What's new in September 2026
This month's updates bring integrated security operations
into preview and identity security visibility into general availability.
Preview
Integrated Security Operations Center in Microsoft Defender
The Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC) brings
extended detection and response (XDR), security information
and event management (SIEM), threat intelligence, automation,
and AI capabilities together in the Microsoft Defender portal.
Availability:
Starting September 23, 2026, the preview is available to
eligible Microsoft 365 E5 and E7 customers without an
active Microsoft Sentinel workspace.
Generally available
Identity Security dashboard and Coverage & Maturity
The Identity Security dashboard provides a centralized view
of identity-related security risks and security posture
across your organization.
Coverage & Maturity helps security teams:
Understand identity protection across on-premises
environments, cloud services, SaaS applications,
identity providers, and partner technologies.
Identify coverage and deployment gaps.
Prioritize actions to improve identity security posture.
