Microsoft SharePoint: Billing correction for multi-geo customers using Microsoft 365 Archive and SharePoint Storage

[What and why]

We are correcting a billing logic error that caused some multi-geo customers to be billed less than their actual consumption for Microsoft 365 Archive and SharePoint Storage pay-as-you-go. The correction applies going forward. Previously issued invoices will not be recalculated or adjusted.

• SharePoint Storage billing begins when total active storage across all geo locations exceeds the tenant quota.
• Microsoft 365 Archive billing begins when total active and archive storage across all geo locations exceeds the tenant quota.

• Review your tenant quota and active and archive storage usage across all geo locations to determine whether you are affected.
• If you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot or SharePoint Advanced Management license, you can use the SharePoint Admin Agent and ask: tenant storage overview.
