Microsoft Teams VDI: Windows Server versions and support timelines

Support for Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Apps is defined by the Modern Lifecycle Policy, which requires customers maintain an up-to-date configuration to stay supported.
- New Microsoft Teams End-of-support dates for Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022 are October 2025 and October 2026 respectively.
For further information, review: Office and Windows configuration support matrix. - Please note that Windows Server 2016 and 2012 are not supported with New Microsoft Teams. As Classic Microsoft Teams approaches the End of Availability date of July 1st 2025, users on these two platforms will be unable to continue to use Classic Teams and will be forced to use Teams on Web.
- All Windows Server customers can now start validating Windows Server 2025, which is currently under public Tech Preview for the New Microsoft Teams.

You are receiving this message because you have deployed Microsoft Teams in a VDI environment with Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 or 2022.
[What you can do to prepare:]
If you are a customer using Windows Server 2012 or 2016, please plan to upgrade to a supported Windows Server version. Microsoft recommends Windows Server 2022 or 2025.
If you are a customer using Windows Server 2019, please plan to upgrade before October 31st, 2025.
If you are a customer using Windows Server 2022, please plan to upgrade before October 31st, 2026.
